Ukraine has selected the winners of the first Professional Rating of Corporate Sustainability

The winners of Sustainable Ukraine, the first professional rating of corporate sustainability in Ukraine based on leading international practices, have been revealed.

The rating includes companies among the top 250 taxpayers in Ukraine. Sustainable Ukraine evaluates and compares corporate governance quality in companies, their ability to make a positive impact on society, manage non-financial risks and opportunities, and ensure their sustainable development.

Energoatom received the highest grade for corporate sustainability – AAA. Ukrhydroenergo, Kernel, and Coca-Cola Beverages Ukraine Limited all received a very high AA grade for corporate sustainability. Meanwhile, Carlsberg Ukraine, Metinvest, DTEK, and Ukrenergo received a high A grade for corporate stability.

According to Angela Kurinko, the initiator of the project and director of Premier Business Consulting & Communications, Ukraine is a step away from the creation of a system of practical incentives for sustainable development and socially responsible business management.

At the same time, it is significant that Ukrainian companies have achieved high results under leading international standards. Therefore, it is safe to say that highly rated companies meet the global criteria, the principles of sustainable business, and their development is in line with the current expectations of the investors. We remind that the goal of Sustainable Ukraine is to establish preconditions for the sustainable development of Ukraine, higher competitiveness and attractiveness of socially responsible business behaviour, and the development of a qualitatively new model of society. This project aims to comprehensively present Ukraine's corporate sector in terms of sustainable development and corporate social responsibility to the international investment community.

Based on leading international practices, Sustainable Ukraine includes a list of key areas for analysis that allows to comprehensively assess the quality of corporate governance in companies, their ability to manage non-financial risks and opportunities, influence society and the environment. The rating should drive positive country-wide changes in business, as well as provide opportunities and new market-based tools to promote responsible business practices that will help companies choose the path to sustainable development.
